PHILOSOPHY
Campers expect lots of fun and excitement while attending Camp Farley's summer programs, but they receive a great deal more.
Youngsters learn while participating in various program activities and--more importantly--they develop self-esteem, and a positive attitude and understanding of their world. Camp Farley's programs are designed to educate and develop youth in acquiring life skills of communication, problem solving, decision making, and leadership.
Groups participate together and separately in conventional and innovative programs designed for their age and interest. Camp Farley's structured weekly format, daily electives, visiting specialists, and field trips provide a balanced variety of fun, educational activities within a traditional summer camp setting.
CAMP STAFF
Michael Campbell , a Cape Cod native with over two decades of experience in youth education, has been Camp Farley's
Executive Director since 1989. Joyce Oberthal , a certified teacher, has been Camp Farley 's Director since 1994.
Any questions regarding special camper considerations may be addressed to her. Please feel free to consult with
Camp Farley 's Resident Nurse with any specific medical questions or concerns.
Our culturally diverse employees typically include mature and qualified program professionals,
a camp nurse and behavioral specialist, food service staff, and other licensed and/or certified personnel.
Program staff are recruited from across the country and overseas with specialized skills and a demonstrated
affinity for working with youngsters, and all camp staff undergo a comprehensive employment and criminal history
investigation. The minimum age of Camp Farley counselors
is 18 years of age. On rare occasions, former campers who have successfully completed Camp Farley's counselor
training program, may be hired at 17 years of age as junior counselors. In addition to Camp Farley s on-call

CAMP FOOD
Camp Farley strives to make every camping experience a positive one, and recognizes the importance of providing delicious and well-balanced meals and snacks. (see below to view our menus.) While it is impossible to satisfy every individual within a group setting, our camp meals are designed for popular appeal, incorporate a variety of offerings, and make adjustments for vegetarian needs. Breakfasts typically include a hot entree, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, as well as a choice between a sweet and non-sweet cereal. Lunches typically include hot soup & sandwich, with peanut butter and/or jelly sandwiches always available as an alternative option. When possible and/or deemed appropriate, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches may also be available as an alternative to dinner entrees.
Vegetarians
A vegetarian option [indicated in italics on the menu] is included when deemed necessary or appropriate. Otherwise, vegetarians are expected to be as flexible as omnivore campers and staff. In order to assist with meal planning, please note that vegetarian options are available only to campers and staff who have indicated this preference upon arrival to camp, and who abide by their stated choice throughout the week.
Our staff make every attempt to encourage campers to use good table manners, make healthy eating choices, and be open to new food experiences. Please note that due to practical constraints and camp philosophy, we do not provide individual/alternative selections to our menu. Campers experience a number of growth opportunities while attending camp, and being flexible about trying different foods is part of the overall benefits of being at camp. The following menus reflect the planned items to be served campers and staff during the camping season.
